From Fortune, March 22, 2010. "How Are Most Admired Companies Different?" http://money.cnn.com/2010/03/08/news/companies/admired_different.fortune/
Fortune's World's Most Admired Companies all have one thing in common. They believe that people are their most valuable asset. More than half of the companies have been on the list for the past ten years. The link also takes you the list of the 2010 most admired companies. This article can be discussed in conjunction with Lamb, Hair, and McDaniel's Marketing 11e, chapter 3, pages 88-93 and pages 34-36 of MKTG4.
Questions: 1. What is the link, if any, between being an admired company and social responsibility?
2. Apple is the world's most admired company. Would you say they are socially responsible. Go to their web site and see what you can find ab out their social responsibility.
Class project: Assign each student one of the 50 World's Most Admired. Have them go to the company's website and research the firm's social responsible activities. Have them report their findings to the class. Ask them to discuss any particularly unusual or noteworthy findings.
